My name is Clarice, I am Brazilian and I am living in Berlin, studying German at German Language School. I am here for almost three months, but I am still discovering things every day. This week I decided to have a walk around Tiergarten and got fascinated with the Victory Column – or Siegessäule, in German. It was built to celebrate the victory of Prussia over Denmark in 1864 and it is 66,89 meters high.

Essa semana dei uma volta pelo Tiergarten e fiquei fascinada pela Coluna da Vitória - ou Siegessäule, em alemão. Ela foi construída para celebrar a vitória da Prússia sobre a Dinamarca em 1864 e tem 66,89 metros de altura.
To get to the Column, you have to cross a tunnel (don't try to cross the avenue, you'll end up killing yourself). An interesting thing about this tunnel is a huge painel composed with lights that move according to your movements. Children and adults can have fun there!
Para chegar até a Coluna, é preciso atravessar um túnel (não tente cruzar a avenida, você pode acabar se matando se tentar). Uma coisa interessante sobre esse túnel é um enorme painel de luzes que se movem de acordo com seus movimentos. Tanto crianças quanto adultos se divertem!

To get to the top of the Column, you'll have to buy a ticket for 3 euros. But get ready, because the only way to do it is to climb over 250 stair steps.
Para subir até o topo da Coluna, é preciso comprar um ingresso de 3 euros. Mas se prepare, porque a única forma de fazer isso é subindo mais de 250 degraus.
Before reaching the top, you can stop to admire the beauty of the big mosaic that portrays great German heroes.
Antes de chegar ao topo, você pode parar para admirar a beleza do gigantesco mosaico que retrata grandes heróis alemães.
The view you'll get after so many staires is worth it. You can see the TV Tower, Mitte, Potsdamer Platz, the whole Tieragarten and much more.
A vista que você terá depois de tantos degraus vale a pena. De lá, é possível ver a Torre da TV, Mitte, Potsdamer Platz, todo o Tiergarten e muito mais.
An interesting fact about the Column is that, initially, it used to be in front of the Reichstag. As part of the Nazi plans of turning Berlin into “Welthauptstadt Germania” (Germania World Capital), the Victory Column was transported to its current place, at Großer Stern. The Godness of Victory is 8 meters high, it’s also made in silver and completely gold-plated.
Um fato interessante sobre a Coluna é que, inicialmente, ela ficava em frente ao Reichstag. Como parte dos planos dos nazistas de transformar Berlim em “Welthauptstadt Germania” (Capital Mundial Germania), a Coluna da Vitória foi transportada para seu local atual, na Großer Stern. A Deusa da Vitória possui oito metros, é feita de bronze e toda folheada a ouro. Linda, não?
