My name is Clarice, I am Brazilian and I am living in Berlin for two months now, studying German at the GLS German Language School. I live and study at Prenzlauer Berg, a trendy neighborhood composed by young families and many cool restaurants and shops. I fell in love with this place from the moment I arrived in Berlin – the architecture, the people, the security and, of course, the amount of things to do and see here.
Prenzlauer Berg is located on the East part of Berlin. During the Cold War, it was a workers neighborhood, composed mainly by students and artists because of its low prices. After the fall of the Wall, things changed. Today you’ll find fancy buildings, a lot of families and many foreigns like Americans, Australians and people from western Europe.
Meu nome é Clarice, sou brasileira e estou Morando em Berlim há dois meses, estudando alemão na GLS escola de alemão. Eu moro e estudo em Prenzlauer Berg, um bairro composto por famílias jovens e muitos restaurantes e lojas. Eu me apaixonei por esse lugar no momento em que cheguei em Berlim – a arquitetura, as pessoas, a segurança e, claro, a quantidade de coisas pra fazer e ver.
Prenzlauer Berg está localizado na parte leste da cidade. Durante a Guerra Fria, era um bairro operário, composto principalmente por estudantes e artistas por conta de seus preços baixos. Após a queda do muro, as coisas mudaram. Hoje você encontrará prédios chiques, muitas famílias e muitos estrangeiros, como americanos, australianos e pessoas da Europa ocidental.
The buildings are beautiful and the streets are large. There are also many parks and it's very easy to locate yourself here. If you visit Berlin, you have to have a walk through this charming place.
Os prédios são lindos e as ruas são largas. Há também muitos parques e é muito fácil se localizar por aqui. Se você visitar Berlim, tem que dar uma caminhada por esse lugar tão charmoso.
This is Schönhauser Allee (The Avenue of the Beautiful Houses, in German). It is the main avenue of Prenzlauer Berg, where you can find pretty much everything you need - and also go wherever you want to go in Berlin from there.
Essa é a Schönhauser Allee (Avenida das Casas Bonitas, em alemão). É a principal avenida de Prenzlauer Berg, onde você pode achar quase tudo de que precisa - e também pode ir pra qualquer lugar da cidade a partir de lá.
On Schönhauser Allee there is Kulturbrauerei, and old beer factory that was turned into a cultural complex. It's beautiful and you'll find there a movie theather, clubs, bars, restaurants, supermarkets and stores. It's nice to have a walk inside, especially during Christmas time because of the Weinachstmarkt.
Na Schönhauser Allee, há a Kulturbrauerei, uma antiga fábrica de cervejas que foi transformada num complexo cultural. É muito bonito, e lá você vai encontrar um cinema, baladas, bares, restaurantes, supermercados e lojas. É legal caminhar por lá, principalmente durante o natal, por conta do Weinachstmarkt.
Around Kollwitzplatz there are many restaurants and bars, from many different types: French cafés, Argentinien, vegan, Vietnamese or typically German restaurants - you choose.

This is Wasserturm - or simply the Water Tower. It was built in 1875 and one interesting fact about it is that when the nazis came to power, the SA turned its basement into a torture chamber, and later the bodies of 28 of their victms were found there.

Prenzlauer Berg is one of my favorite places in the city, but beyond everything that this neighborhood could offer, there is one special reason that makes me like it so much: from almost every spot of the neighborhood, I can see the Fernsehturm.
