What am I doing in Berlin?
Hello. I'm Ed and I'm bored. Can't sleep, so I thought I'd write a blog. I'm not going to write in Deutsch, cos it'll be full of spelling and grammatical mistakes. Maybe by the end of the week I'll try.
I'm at the GLS German school in Berlin. I seem to be the oldest person here, but I'm a year younger than it says on my profile. It's also the first blog I've ever written! Never worked out what a blog is. I suppose it's a place where you just rant uncontrollably about nothing much, and wonder if anyone ever reads it. Is that right?
So what are my first impressions of this place? It's a bit like being sent to a lunatic asylum - everything painted white. But it's nicer than that. These studio flats are gorgeously gorgeous. Why was the GLS bar shut last night? I found a great little cafe - Cafe Morgenrot - turn right out of GLS and it's number 85 on this street, a few paces away. Seems to be like a co-operative. Anyway I'll be going there this week, not today of course (Monday), cos it's shut!
Why is it then, that all the activities seem to start at 3pm? I'm on the intensive course, and that doesn't finish till 3.45pm. Fat lot of good that is, innit? What am I doing on this course in Germany? I wish I could work that out too. Some friend has this ridiculous idea to move out here and open a cinema. It's so ridiculous that I think I should do it. But I need to learn a bit of Deutsch first. So that's why I'm here. I think. One day I'll manage to find all the answers to life.
That's all for now. It's 5.31am BST, or 4.31am GMT, or 6.31 Deutsche time. That's if you believe any of them. My portable telephone seems to change the time depending on what mood it's in, so I'll either be everywhere and hour early, or an hour late.
