Hey my name is Mara, I live in Berlin and I was doing a one month internship at the GLS German Language School. In my photo-story I am going to tell you what kind of free-time activities the school provides, and I will also give you some tips about what you can do in Berlin by yourself. The leisure program for GLS students for one whole week can be found on the information board.

To get more information about the offer, I interviewed the friendly Sophia. Sophia is sitting at the information desk, on the ground floor.
Von ihr erfuhr ich, vor allem sportliche Aktivitäten wie Bootstouren, Fahrradtouren und Beachvolleyball seien sehr beliebt. Es stehen allerdings nur eine bestimmte Anzahl von Fahrrädern zu Verfügung, aber wenn man ein eigenes hat, kann das ja auch genutzt werden.
Außerdem seien Museumsbesuche sehr gefragt, vor allem das „Neue Museum“ wird von den Gls-Schülern gut besucht. Die Museen, Galerien & Seminare sind außerdem kostenlos, nur das Bahnticket muss jeder selber übernehmen.
Sophia told me that sport activities like boat trips, bicycle tours, and beach volleyball are very popular among students. However, there are only limited numbers of bicycles available, but if somebody has their own, they can use it. She also said that museums visits are much in demand, especially the new museum („Neues Museum“) is most visited. Moreover, Museums, galleries, and seminar that are free of charge. Only public transportation costs a small fee.
Zu dem Freizeitprogramm unter der Woche werden Tagesausflüge übers Wochenende angeboten, von Kletterparks bis Gedenkstätten, alles ist dabei und die Gls denkt sich immer wieder etwas Neues aus. An den Wochenendausflügen nehmen circa 30 Personen unterschiedlicher Stufen teil.
In addition to the week trips, there are also day trips on the weekends from climbing parks to memorial places visits. The Gls thinks constantly about new activities and ideas. At the weekend trips around 30 people usually participate.
Wenn man sich gerne selbst durch Berlin schlagen möchte, hinter Sophias Schreibtisch ist eine kleine Bibliothek mit Büchern über Berlin angebracht, die man sich gerne ausleihen kann
If you want to go around Berlin by yourself, behind Sophia’s desk there is a small library where you can find more information about Berlin.
In Berlin gibt es eine Menge Parks und öffentliche Grünflächen, dort kann man sich erholen oder beispielsweise Tischtennis oder Frisbee spielen. Außerdem gibt es meistens Fußball und Baskeballplätze die man nutzen kann. Der Volkspark Schöneberg/Wilmersdorf oder auch der Rudolph-Wilde-Park ist einer davon.
In Berlin there are lots of parks and open Green areas, there you can have a break, play table-tennis or frisbee. In the parks there are also often open Soccer and Basketball playgrounds.The Volkspark Schöneberg/Wilmersdorf or Rudolph-Wilde-Park, are one of them.

Im Sommer finden in Berlin einige coole Straßenfeste statt, der Karneval der Kulturen ist mein persönlicher Favorit.
In summer there are some cool street festivals, the Carnival of Culture is my favorite.
