My name is Clarice, I am Brazilian and I am living in Berlin, studying German at the GLS German Language School. I am here for almost three months, but I am still discovering things every day. One of my favorite places is the city is the RAW Area, at Warschauer Strasse, mostly because of its history and amazing street art. Formerly the Reichsbahn (former German national railway) repair workshop. Today the area is populated with associations in the field of culture, music, theatre, a circus for children and more.
Meu nome é Clarice, sou brasileira e estou morando em Berlim, estudando alemão na GLS escola de alemão em Berlim. Estou na Alemanha há quase três meses, mas ainda estou descobrindo coisas todos os dias. Um dos meus lugares favoritos na cidade é a RAW Area, na Warschauer Strasse, principalmente por conta de sua história e arte de rua incrível. Antigamente, era a área de conserto dos trens da Reichsbahn (antiga rede de trens da Alemanha). Hoje é uma área composta por associações entre cultura, música, teatro, um circo e muito mais.
In World War 2, the RAW area was bombed and partly destroyed. In the years between the 60s and 90s, the space was a no-go area as the GDR government didn’t allow citizens in there. In 1989, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, artists started to settle at the RAW area, squats were founded and the buildings served as perfect canvases for graffiti art.
Durante a Segunda Guerra, a área foi bombardeada e parcialmente destruída. Entre os anos 60 e 90, o espaço era uma área proibida pelo governo da DDR, Alemanha Oriental. Em 1989, após a queda do Muro, artistas começaram a tomar conta dessa região, usando os prédios destruídos como um cenário perfeito para graffiti.

There are concerts and slam poetry all year as well as frequent open air cinema and a flea market in summer,a climbing garden on the walls of the old bunker with a beergarden and a skateboard hall.
Há também shows e slam poetry durante o ano todo, assim como como cinema ao ar livre e mercados de pulga durante o verão, uma parede de escalada num antigo bunker, um beergarden e uma pista de skate.
And, of course there will be a tribute to the most famous Berliner ever.
